North
Under a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Bonnie
Hurd Smith was retained by the North of Boston Convention and
Visitors Bureau and the Peabody Essex Museum to create mostly online,
culturally-related materials that would entice visitors to the North
Shore.
Key
accomplishments:
• Oversaw the creation of three themed trails directing visitors
to sites throughout the North Shore having to do with art,
architecture, or literature; worked closely with professional staff
and contractors on research, writing, and collecting
images.
• Worked with local hotels, motels, and bed & breakfasts to develop similarly themed lodging packages.
• Worked with technicians to transform the Escapes North website.
• Helped develop the annual Escapes North brochure.
• Consulted with North of Boston staff on advertisements, email blasts, and other internal communications methods.
• Created materials to promote the 2007 17th Century Saturdays monthly events (a collaboration with Historic New England and the Essex National Heritage Commission).
• Helped publicize Celebrate Salem, a summer-long collaboration among all of Salem's cultural organizations.
