The Salem News, July 14, 2003
Held during the 15th Annual Salem Maritime Festival, this
fundraiser for the ship Friendship of Salem was a smashing
success for the Salem Partnership who years ago took on the challenge
of raising funds to create Friendship, a replica of a 1797
trading vessel. The event kicked off the closing phase of the $1.5
million campaign.
The fundraiser was co-hosted by Eagle-Tribune Publishing (which
owns The Salem News), and we were pleased to welcome their
Vice President of News, Bill Ketter, and Congressman John F. Tierney
(both pictured above) as our guests along with the Commander and
Executive Officer of the Navy ship USS Boone which was in port
for the Maritime Festival.
