with an introduction by Bonnie Hurd Smith

Originally published privately in 1782 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and Norwich, Connecticut, this is one of the earliest Universalist writings in America and probably the first by an American Universalist woman. Written in a question-and-answer format for children, it neatly explains the Universalist ideas articulated by James Relly, the founder of Universalism, that Judith Sargent Murray and her husband, the Universalist preacher John Murray, embraced. The book also contains photographs of the title page and preface from the original publication, courtesy of Houghton Library, Harvard University.
