Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities

Defined newly-created position designed to boost the Foundation's visibility, strengthen relationships with established audiences, and identify, attract, and engage new audiences.

• Managed Boston office, including establishing administrative systems and providing grant applicant counselling.

• Significantly increased the Foundation's profile with state legislators, the media, members, the philanthropic community, cultural and community organizations, actual and potential grant recipients through special events, public meetings, publications, news releases, direct mail, and by establishing collaborative relationships.

• Represented the Foundation at community meetings, political, and media events.

• Served on the board of Women in Philanthropy.

• Planned the first annual "Humanities on the Hill" event at the Massachusetts State House to attract legislative support and media attention.

• Launched and helped manage the State House Project to Honor the Contributions of Women, a multi-year public history and art project, by planning events, seeking public and private endorsements, speaking to a variety of audiences state-wide, placing articles, and serving on the Steering Committee.

• Doubled the Foundation's donor base by establishing regular solicitations and attracting new audiences to the State House Project.

• Created new images for the Foundation and the State House Project by designing logos, stationery, newsletters, fliers, invitations, direct mail and other fundraising packages.

• Worked closely with the Foundation's small professional staff and active board of directors to help define and achieve organizational goals.
