Captain
Sutton House Reconstruction
starts Wednesday, November 28, 2007
At Noon, Jim Whidden will oversee the raising of the first
"bent" (two posts and a beam that he pre-assembled) using traditional
17th-century methods (poles and strong men!). Jim has spent much of
the summer and fall de-constructing the house, restoring the pieces
at his 800-square-foot woodworking shop in Ashburnham, Mass., and he
will spend the next few weeks reconstructing this 17th-century
building on its new site (not far from the old one). Mat Cummings,
the architect for the project, will also be there. His work to build
a new addition where the older building once stood has already begun.
Please come watch the fun!
