Hurd Smith adds new products: Business Histories and Family Memoirs.

Bonnie Hurd Smith to co-present workshops on preserving and promoting historical records. Along with archives management consultant Laura Lowell, Bonnie is presenting two workshops this spring, one in Beverly, the other in Lexington, as part of their service to the Massachusetts Historical Records Council, an affinity group whose purpose is to assist the staff and volunteers of public and private historical records repositories to identify, collect, arrange, describe, catalog, preserve, promote, and provide access to these records.

Bonnie Hurd Smith working with New England School of Law to create and design a publication for a walking trail of sites in downtown Boston on Boston's women's legal history. Celebrating its 100th anniversary, the New England School of Law (which traces its roots to the Portria Law School for Women on Boston's Beacon Hill), in conjunction with the Boston Women's Heritage Trail (of which Bonnie is the former executive director and current consultant), will develop a new trail of sites involving women judges, attorneys, and important legal cases.

Cummings Architects hires Bonnie Hurd Smith to promote their new program on old house restoration: "Restoring Your Old House: How to Do it the Right Way"-- Mat Cummings of Cummings Architects in Ipswich, Mass. and James Whidden (a "woodwright" who does historic restoration and timber framing) have worked together on numerous projects in the North Shore and Boston areas. Recently, they have developed a program to teach old house owners or soon-to-be-owners about best practices in restoration. The program will be presented at historic sites, museums, and trade shows throughout the North Shore, Boston, and Cambridge.

Soucy Insurance Company hires Bonnie Hurd Smith to help mark their 100th anniversary.-- Through interviews and research, Bonnie has document the founding of this Salem insurance agency, issued news releases, and written and designed a brochure and display panels for Soucy Insurance's lobby.

Bonnie Hurd Smith assists the Essex National Heritage Commission with a "Guide to First Period Architecture in Essex County" and hosts their First Period blog.-- Log on and participate!

Bonnie Hurd Smith designs new Boston Women's Heritage Trail Guidebook. -- Published in October 2006, the book includes seven self-guided walks through Boston's most historic neighborhoods. Smith was also a contributing writer and researcher for the book. It may be ordered through Commonwealth Editions.
